How to Calculate Stock Profit and Loss
To calculate your stock profit or loss, subtract your purchase price from your selling price, then multiply by the number of shares. Finally, subtract any buy and sell commissions. If the result is positive, it's a profit. If it's negative, it's a loss.
For example, if you buy 100 shares of a stock at $100 per share and sell them at $120 per share, with no commissions, your profit is $2,000.
